Lexus corrects immaculate desecration2/8/2010 9:04 PM
Dear Greg: I purchased a new 2009 Lexus in November through a broker in Oregon. I picked it up from Lexus of Clearwater, the original dealer. Technically, I am the second owner, but the car is under warranty for three years or 36,000 miles regardless of who owns it. Within a short period of time, I noticed abnormal wear on the driver's seat. The seat has an area 6-8 inches long and a half-inch wide where the top layer of leather has worn through to the white under-weaving of the leather. I am a normal-weight, 60 year old. No one else has driven the car, and nothing has been applied to the seat that would hurt the leather. I was informed by Lexus of Orlando that the Lexus district manager considered this normal wear and tear, so it would not be covered under warranty. Are you kidding me — normal wear and tear on a 7-week-old car? I think not.
